BPSDB Climate change Denier Myths Debunked:
- The 31,000 scientists Oregon Petition fraud
- Mars and Pluto prove it’s natural
- The 1,500 year cycle
Peter Sinclair has been very busy, so without further ado:
Debunks the Oregon Petition, source of the bogus claim that (variously) 17,000, 30,000, 60,000 etc “scientists have signed a petition saying climate change is not real etc. See also the Oregon Petition for more debunking.
Debunks the fable that the fact that some other planets are experiencing warming somehow proves that the cause for Earth’s warming is therefore natural.
I am not sure, but I think I missed posting this one before
Which debunks Singer’s silly “Unstoppable Global Warming Every 1500 Years.” See also Avery and Singer: Unstoppable hot air .

I have created a page for Sinclair’s collected “Climate Denial Crock of the Week” series here (and on sidebar) which I will update as they are produced (as well as announcing them on the blog). You can subscribe to Peter’s Youtube Channel at YouTube – greenman3610′ and get them hot off the editor.
We give our consent every moment that we do not resist.
Denier “Challenge” aka Deathwatch Update: Day 155 … still no evidence.

Stu, the video description is rich with conspiracy theories and Bible prophetic verses. Even without watching the video (I have problems with my flash player here), I can predict that the maker isn’t of sound mind.
The video descriptions also discuss sunspots, which are shown to *not* be related to the modern warming trend (they’re a proxy for solar activity, which has shown no signficant trend in either direction for ~50 years — and though the correlation before that with temperature was sound, it promptly broke down around 1970, which was when the Great Global Warming Swindle cut off its data). Likewise, the related vids thumbnail of later segments shows the Tim Ball clip from the GGWS, which has been thoroughly debunked (Ball’s identified as a professor in a department that doesn’t exist with a degree he doesn’t have, and it didn’t mention that he retired a decade earlier and hadn’t published anything in that decade). Thus, it’s clear the video maker has not read up on science either, and buys into propaganda if it’s framed properly.
I wouldn’t give him much credibility, even though I don’t know what his conclusions are. Cherry-picking and conspiracy theories are two tactics of the denialist, and seeing them together gives me reason to consider the source spurious *without even having read it yet*. (I still will go through it once I get to a computer that can actually manage YouTube vids without cratering… but being able to spot denialist tripe in advance is a serious advantage in determining who to believe.)
stu…
One minute into that video I saw Tim Ball…that’s more than enough for me. [1]
It’s a piece of tripe.

Not all the scientists signing the petition were veterinarians.
From the article:
Myth: Scientists are unanimous that man-made CO2 is the dominant cause of global warming.
Fact: Not so. Many, many reputable scientists believe that natural factors overpower the current influence of CO2 on global warming. Several hundred prominent scientists and/or science professors that have no ties to the petroleum industry have stated publicly that CO2 is not a significant cause of global warming. Over 30,000 more, including 9,000 PhDs have stated man-made CO2 is not expected to cause catastrophic warming.
