A couple of useful resources from QualiaSoup to share with Deniers who cannot seem to grasp what science and critical thinking actually are.
Skewed views of science
Granted most Deniers will never look at them, but at least we can try. They are obviously created for the anti-science vs Evolution crowd, but since they are virtually identical in tactics and ignorance of science to the climate change Deniers these videos are still bang on.
Critical Thinking
Of less direct relevance to climate science, but still very useful would be:
Note how he covers the lottery fallacy which would have spared Omnologos the embarrassment of his post about logic had he seen these first.
Hat tip to Jules who pointed me to Gareth, both of whom are worth visiting regularly. For example Jules just debunked the On EIKE’s 31 prominent scientists predict global cooling fraud (but then just look at the kind of people who promote global cooling), while Gareth was on top of the latest NZ Climate “Science” Coalition scam with “NZ sceptics lie about temp records, try to smear top scientist.”
Update: It seems Gareth has scooped me again with this video in his post Too many teardrops about the flooding (watch for at least 90 secs, after that you won’t be able to stop).
Apparently this creek is normally less than a meter across:
See Gareth’s piece and “Queensland floods are “consistent with climate change predictions” which he directs you to over at Watching the Deniers.
Update: Over 90 Missing In Australia As Floods Inundate Brisbane. Hey Deniers, tell us again how more rain in wet regions will be a good thing.
ClimateSight
A couple of really nice posts if you have not yet seen them:
- My growing list of fantastic quotes about climate change
- Image Collection (climate change cartoons mostly, very fun)
Realclimate
I note that Realclimate once again takes it’s lead from this site 😉 and has created “The Bore Hole“: “A place for comments that would otherwise disrupt sensible conversations.“
I also really liked seeing the “Forbes’ rich list of nonsense” since it was an idiotic Denier article in Forbes that was the target of one of my first posts.
Evolving Thoughts
Hat tip to Dr Curry (yes, really) at Climate Etc for the pointer t:
“A Code of Conduct for Effective Rational Discussion“,
As Dr Curry notes the credit is to Robert Grumbine at More Grumbine Science (another good one) for the find, although actually Evolving Thoughts got it from LimbicNutrition Weblog (here for that), who “In turn, this list was taken from Attacking Faulty Reasoning: A Practical Guide to Fallacy-Free Arguments by Edward T. Damer, which was recommended in comments by G. Felis.”
Regardless, it is “12 principles that make intellectual argument possible” and henceforth an expectation for behaviour on this blog.
Demon-haunted world
Continuing in the same spirit, thanks to Demon-haunted world who got it from Only in it for the gold, who says it is stolen from Lou Grinzo who stole it from CarbonTracker.
Time history of atmospheric CO2
.
puckerclust
Read this amazingly heartfelt letter to former astronaut Harrison Schmitt concerning this story: New Mexico Governor Picks Climate Denier Harrison Schmitt To Run Energy Department.
Seriously, just read it.
We give our consent every moment that we do not resist.

- The “Challenging the Core Science” Comment Thread is for comments that purport to challenge the core science of anthropogenic climate change.
- The “Dunce’s Corner” Comment Thread is for comments that think they can ignore site policy..
QualiaSoup produces fine educational videos. Another recommended channels for science and critical thinking are cdk007, potholer54 (Peter Hadfield), AronRa, and TheraminTrees.
