Shredding the “climate consensus” myth: More Than 1000 International Scientists Dissent Over Man-Made Global Warming Claims – Challenge UN IPCC & Gore

Climate Despot has dropped  a “321-page ‘Consensus Buster’ Report” (bet that cow won a blue ribbon at the County Fair), or so Mark Morano claims.

What it isn’t:

• “new” It’s the same old Inhofe fraud (ie “700 Scientists …”) as before with some recycled silliness tacked on. None of it is anything we haven’t seen before;
• “improved” unless you consider repetition of ridiculous claims and irrelevant appeals to false authority an improvement;
• “Inhofe‘s” as before the real author is Mark ‘Wormtongue’ Morano;
• science; utterly absent is any trace of of actual science or any reference to it except in the most abstract and meaningless ways;
• a list it’s a collection of anecdotes, specious claims, contextless quotes and copy/pastes of various petitions and declarations;

BPSDB Climate Despot has targeted Rudy Baum, so how about showing him a little love?

Baum is the editor of Chemical & Engineering News, the publication of the American Chemical Society. About a month ago I reported on the tempest in a teapot that got raised because Baum had the gall to talk rationally about real science in the newsletter of a scientific association. This is always an unpardonable sin to the Denialosphere.

Watts that? it’s quiet … too quiet…

For those who were not aware of it, two days ago climate change Denier Anthony Watts filed a complaint causing the removal of from youtube of Peter Sinclair’s excellent video Whats up with Anthony Watts?. You can follow the developments from here if you wish.

The video was reposted and an informal campaign to spread the word took off.  The grassroots campaign to keep Peter Sinclair’s video public has had considerable success. As you can see, the search I just did yielded 29,000 hit. Of course  not all of them are related to this story, but from what I could tell a great many of them were.

A discussion of the “Influence of the Southern Oscillation and tropospheric temperature on climate change Deniers and their delusions, bad science and general unethical behaviour”.

Sigh. Yet another “New Study” that doesn’t say what the climate change Deniers claim it does. Or more curiously, the study “says” it, it just doesn’t have any evidence for it.

I am referring to the study “Influence of the Southern Oscillation on tropospheric temperature“, (abstract only, the journal itself is for subscribers) discussed at Climate Despot as “Peer-Reviewed Study Rocks Climate Debate! ‘Nature not man responsible for recent global warming…little or none of late 20th century warming and cooling can be attributed to humans’” (for God’s sake, someone please stop that man before he writes another title).

New study, climate Deniers are “fundamentally wrong”

The fraud fad ‘meme de jour’ in climate science Denier tabloid media this week is the hoary old chestnut:

‘New Study disproves/overturns/undermines global warming / climate change science/models/theory!”

.

Never mind that:

• they repeat this meme every few weeks with a completely different study;
• none of the Deniers seem to even remotely understand the study they refer to;
• none of the studies ever turn out to say what the Deniers believe/claim;
• the fact that it is “new” means it should be treated with caution since review by the entire scientific community can lead to:
  • discovery of subtle errors that the authors and reviewers missed;
  • a way of understanding the data different from how the authors had;
• the probability that a single study could overturn the thousands upon thousands of studies that support our understanding of climate change is remote in the extreme (see here).
